How to make paper?

How can I make better pulp paper?

  • I finally made my first batch of pulp paper for my sketchbook. I blended together sketchbook paper, printer paper and news paper. Once the pulp pages were dry enough, I tried ironing them between two towels to steam the water out, then placed books and weights ontop. My pulp paper looks great but its very 'soft' paper. It is similar to drawing on a paper towel or construction paper. Pencils do not work well and can shread or pierce the paper, so I can only use markers and charcoles. How can I make better pulp paper? Is it possible to make pulp paper that watercolors can be used on? Thanks in advance!

  • Answer:

It needs to be sized with a glue size in order to accept pencil etc. - YOu really dont need to iron them - Make sure that the pulp is very fine - I wouldnt use the newspaper as you dont know what the ink does
