Samsung OR Sony LED Smart TV?

  • I am having tough time choosing LED TV. I have being using Sony products especially TV and LCD since old days and the products is truly reliable and long lasting. As time goes by I need to upgrade my TV to smart LED TV and was having tremendous tough time choosing which is a right TV I should acquire. Samsung technology was amazing! It has all the features like no one else have it at the reasonable price. Sony was reliable and long lasting but feature wise, I don't think Sony can beat Samsung. And yet, Sony is extremely expensive with minimal feature that every LED TV has. Worst of all, I was told that SONY LED panel is sourced from Samsung. But according to other sources, Samsung is not that long lasting as Sony and break down rate is much higher compared to Sony. Which one should I buy???

    Well you have some things right and some wrong thats normal on here this is a site with mostly opinion like asking whats better a camaro or a mustangeveryone has an opinion,The sony panels are made in japan the samsung in korea so although some things are made by other companys like Ipad screens are made by samsung and sharp used to use some Lg also.But sony uses their own paqnels and have had alot of issues in the past few years sony recalled 1.8 million tvs last year alone for melting pcb boards.The only sony worth buying is the new flagship xbr929 but its very expensive.I used to love sony untill i started getting calls every day for service.Samsung has more sarvice than any other brand but thats because they sell more tvs than any other company by a long way.Sony just fired their CEO and promises future products to be better but still posted a 14.8 billion loss in Q1 2012 and samsung was oposite at 27 billion according to retail metrics.Go with the best samsung you can afford I have the E8000 and 3D and smart features are awesome and picture quality is outstanding.Dont get fooled by opinions with no fact,do the research and see wat I mean.+++EDIT+++ Just to clarify meant sony announced 2011 losses in 2012 and never said dollars which is bad anyway and Just this is only thing I'll say Samsung has a market cap in the USA shares,at 134 Billion larger than sony,nokia,toshiba,panasonic,and lg combined!!!! Asker you have pros on here all the time telling people samsung and panasonic and never sony not a pro.I fix tvs among other tech and Sony is getting better for the next year but it could be too late as their reputation has suffered the last few years and if your going to take advice from a guy who owns a sony or pros who have fixed and own them for years,the last good sony was the xbr crt,the dlp was bad the lcds worse Sony the only tv company to recall all w series lcd models for burning down peoples houses in some cases over 1.8 million is the truer number.Sony claimed 1.6 and reuters claims 2 million.The bottom line you asked best now.And the Samsung is better and cheaper with more features and a better designed set.Look it up on line,not my opinion its a fact sony posted losses for the last few years.Whether Im off a few or not the losses were big enough to lay off and close down factories and even Sharp dumped Sony as a partner,So get your answer straight your a sony fan boy.you say sony every answer,I tell people what the best is of what they ask you just say sony to every question Lo0ok at the real AV guys answers its never Sony,not anymore.To be technical the best LED made in 2012 is the Sharp Elite at 6k.Samsung 7 and 8 series are the best all around tvs for the money and Panasonic.Go on AVS or Home Theatre sound & vision mag or online and see.TV of the year The top 1 & 2 TVs of the year award was Panasonic and samsung 2 points below 3 straight years before that 8 straight years it was Pioneer Elite sony hasnt won E3 in over 15 years,Sharp Elite and Panasonic 50 series and new Samsung E8000 are the 3 up for Tv of the year 2012 from E3.Get the Samsung or a sharp even LG before Sony.Im not a hater I kinow whats better I take them apart daily.++++EDIT++++ The Samsung es sries is AWESOME! The 6 is good but if you can afford to step up to the ES7 or 8000 as they have dual core cpu andd better upgraded Panel real black pro.I have the 8000 and after adjusting it properly ist absolutely the best new set I have evr owned and I have 4 new tvs,its PQ is close to the best Plamas.which are known for best naturalPQ,just get a calibration disc and dial in which ever samsung you decide and you will get a great picture with saturated colors great blacks and brightness like youve never seen! I have no more room to tell you more.LOL Just get the TV you Like and remember if it looks good in store it will be 10x better at home set properly! I do this every day!

I have the new samsung LED E8000 and it's great,the smart features like full real browser and 3D in full 1080P there is an app for kids and 3D apps that look incredible and the new glasses are the sg4100 very light and sexy for 3d glasses lol,I had a sonyex400 had the worst picture I couldnt believe how bad it was so i got the better 7 series and just didnt look right so i went to av specialist a hugh end store wher they'll show you individual tvs and play your pics or movies you bring for best comparison,the salesman didnt push too much as everything was similar priced but I explained my Sony dilemma and he said Sony isnt good as it was 10 years ago and with tv prices dropping on average level stes the other companys are killing them plus they had the big class action on their top line lcds then.So i had 2 tvs in my price range as he had 40 thousand dollar projectors and real hi end,he said the samsung every one wants but the best natural picture was Plasma and panasonic or samsung were best for me.I have a panasonic 50VT25 and just got a Samsung Es8000 and After calibrating ,which they do as part of price they wont sell a Tv without calibrating .Looks AMAZING! FYI Every company is hurting we are in a global recession but I looked before answering in the times and Sonys stock ytd has dropped 12% and similar last year if they were a smaller company they would be bought out stock holders only put up with so many loss excuses,New CEO and whole division revamp.Its all over the web just look it up.The answer is go with Samsung or if you dont have to get LEd look at the Panasonic or samsungs for 20112,very nice and highly rated.

Who cares exact figures any pro knows Samsung is better period The only sony worth anything even to place in the top 10 which has 5 Samsungs btw,is the XBR929 Fact! Sony lost 10% of their already horrible market,and samsung seta earnings record in Korea at 1.67trillion won over last years 630 billion thats alptta won!Lol The bottom line unless you go with the xbr929 which is too expensive get a Samsung like everyone else on earth and enjoy a great tv at a great price,And even You the asker said sony is not good feature wise unless you buy a top line set Samsung gives the customer what they want a feature rich tv at a cheaper price and as far as failing the 1st Joe was right its because Samsung sells 100x more tvs then Sony.Face it Sony is not what it was and just fired over 12k workers.Its metrics not exact science.Sony loses Samsung is number 1.

Ramy if your going to correct someone be right Sony is losing more business every day and joe g was talking Yen he never said dollars and they posted losses in tv division for 4 straight years while samsung grows and they own nearly half the Tv market sony has less than 8% if that.Sony is terrible and I read the articles about sony and samsung they have been terrible and the new CEO Kaz H from games took over sony has been playing catch up for years.Samsung is the # ! TV company on EARTH Get the Sony ex or whatever and see,Sony was good not any more.Soon maybe but today its samsung and panasonic hands down.

Samsung is better,sony has gone down in quality and features.The gorilla glass used by sony for their screens now dulls the PQ they have already changed the panel to a better form of corning glass its the material they use by corning.Sony has to make the backlight better for the picture to be bright and well saturated colors,They are compensating brightness for that reason, and too much brightness gives you a washed out look, with detail loss, especially on edges,watch the movie the dark Knight blu ray on a samsung led and sony and see the difference.

I am not going to debate much as always JoG is right Ramy,just because you say you had a couple bad samsungs look online and see the ratings top10lcd top10plasma & top10led and samsung is 7 out of 10TVs in the top 10!!! Thats amazing now Plasma is panasonic and samsung and lcd and led for the regular customer is samsung and I quote cnet samsung has the best features rich colors slim design and and smart features that other manufacturers are playing catch up! Sony was great they have been losing tv shares to samsung panasonic and sharp Lg for years and toshiba has higher rated sets,and its been said the only sony to rate in the top 10 is the new XBR929 but its over 2 times the price of samsung e8000 led and LEd reviews.org said its not worth twice the money and given the choice themselves the samsung is the best all around led 2010,2011 & again 2012.Thats all around not best you can buy.The Sharp Elite is the best LED ever made so far.Lcds are even worse for sony,and Plasma forget sony anyway,Tv of the year 3 years straight whether plasma,lcd,led whatever Panasonic VT 20,09-,VT25,2010-, VT30,-2011 and VT50 is up for 2012 and behind those were samsung within 2 to 4 points.I was at E3.My choice out of your 2 is Samsung hands down,Plasma would be Samsung or Panasonic.I have seen the new 4K sets and Samsung and LG are 1st to market so innovation is also better now.Again to be clear,I used to love Sony and owned a few but not anymore and right now on here there are 5 atleast questions about dead sonys dead in 2 years.And they dont seel a 1/3rd as many as samsung so we should see 10 times more samsungs dead but its always I cant hook up something or user errors where sony questions are my tv died and its only a year old,Just for instance.

I would suggest to check out Samsung UN46ES6100 This is a great tv -- lightweight, nice picture, tons of features, has surprisingly nice sound, and is exactly what I was looking for.

I would go with a Sony to be honest. They are long lasting and much more reliable. I returned two Samsung TVs since 2009 and everytime they fixed them they became worse. Now I have a Sony BRAVIA EX720 and I couldn't be happier I got it. I also found out it's waayyy better for gaming (PS3 atleast). Regarding the features, just check if youre gonna use them or not. So I would pretty much say Realibility, quality and durability VS Features and Price. And regarding the comment that said Sony lost 14 billion while Samsung made 27 billion: 1.92% of the Japanes companies lost money this year due to Japan Earthquakes and Taiwan floods 2.Sony lost 5.7 billion dollars(3.2 billion of them being taxes) in the fiscal year of 2011, not 2012. Samsug made 5.7 billion not 27, and lost 900 million dollars in their LCD business.
