What does it mean when people say you act like an old married couple?

  • My ex boyfriend and I are still friends and spend a fair amount of time together. We are constantly either full on flirting, or bickering and arguing over trivial matters, but always forgive each other within a few days at most. People (a TON of people) have recently been saying "you two are acting like a married couple", "why dont you two just get married", "when are you getting married", etc. (we're in high school btw) which is slightly awkward because we're ex's... What do people mean when they say this exactly? Just because we fight? That suddenly makes us an old married couple?

    They mean pretty much what they said; you act like a married couple. The way you argue makes it seem like you love eachother a lot and are used to dealing with eachother; you don't have the usual ex's mentality at all. Well you are partially correct, it is because of the fighting and possibly those people are just being sarcastic by comparing the fighting with an old married couple in which they bicker 24/7.

You obviously have never been married but yelling back and forth about stupid stuff annoys others and that is the number one sign you shouldnt be together if you fight often and about little things. Relationships like that end badly.
