How Can I Calibrate A SWR Meter?

I cant figure out how to adjust my cb radio swr?

• and its ******* frustrating. im following all the directions i can find all over the internet and what came with the meter ive done it a dozen times and all that seems to be happening is the reception is getting worse. my meter is the Astatic PDC5 SWR/Wattage Meter. personally i think its a peicee of ****. does not do what it supposed to do and doesnt tell you how to lower the swr, jut how to check it. and even that doent work. everytime it flips right back to the "calibrate" place. i think the lowet i got it wa around 1.5 but it didnt really sound to clear. ive got a 52 inch firestick and a cobra19 dv ix 40. is my meter just a pile or am i jut really bad at doing this? its my first time ha ( thats what she said;)

  try this for help. http://msxml.excite.com/info.xcite.t1.6/search/web?q=cb+swr+adjust also make sure you are not parked under or near any power lines. don't be near any flourescent lights or under a carport or similar objects. you may have to find a large parking lot to get in the clear.
