Which is the best laptop for graphic design?

Mac User.. Best PC laptop and desktop for Graphic Design?

  • I've been a mac user since the mid 90's. I'm a professional Graphic Designer and just accepted a job where the company uses PC's for the design work. Hey, it pays well and the benefits are great. Who cares. Soooo, I'm going to buy myself a PC laptop or possibly a Tower. What should I look for? What specs would be best for a solid PC based graphic design laptop. I assume some of the same for the mac.. i5 or i7 dual or quad core.. but what about the rest? Tips? Recommendations? Of course I know there are some bad-*** laptops in the PC world who are running architectural and 3D apps... Give me some advice.

Are they using Workstation PCs or just run of the mill high end PCs? As far as laptops go, the Sandy Bridge i7 mobile quads and the Ivy(s) are excellent processors which actually rival the performance of many desktop quad i7s. At least you will get a lot of freedom to customize and upgrade (if you go the desktop route) as opposed to the very limited and closed Mac route Laptop, I'd say ASUS Sony and Toshiba. Desktop is best building your own
