My first Gynecologist visit?

First visit to gynecologist..?

  • I'm 15 and going to a gynecologist in a few days for birth control- to hopefully help lighten my very heavy period and to ease it's side effects. I am a virgin, I am not sexually active, and do not plan to be anytime soon. Is a pap smear required?

  • Answer:

no they will not do a pap smear because you are still a virgin. The only thing they might do is a pelvic exam and a breast exam. It all depends on your doctor. Some of my friends who went on birth control just tood blood work and some had to have an exam

No. They may not even ask you to take your panties off haha. I went to a gynecologist when I was 15 for birth control for cramps and was a virgin as well. No exam was required. He/she will just talk to you, POSSIBLY may do an external exam of the genitalia but it depends on your doctor. You can always refuse to be examined if you don't want to. But whatever they do they will not insert anything in you.

Hopefully going on the pill will really help your periods both with pain and the flow. You are too young to have a smear .You usually get one done in your early 20's unless there is a case for you to have one - if there is cervical cancer in your family for instance.Good luck!
