How do you make a crayfish/crawdad trap?

• I want to make a easy crawdad trap for a trap in a creek that doesn't make much supplies

  either hardware cloth,which is metal mesh,or we used to submerge wide mouth mayonnaise jars as kids,and partially cover it over,then they take up residence in them,you kind of lift it up,and they retreat to the bottom of the jar,and you have them,no bait needed.we'd tie a string around the lip of the jar to get a hold of it from a distance.Some of the kids would screw on the lid,and make a fairly big hole in it for them to climb in with,they can't find it to get back out. making one of mesh is complicated,and you need a certain degree of metalworking skill to make one well.you can purchase one ready made for ten bucks,a GEE'S minnow trap which looks like a torpedo,and has funnels on either end will also catch them.
