I forget the full steps, but the best way to develop for Android is through eclipse... http://developer.android.com/sdk/eclipse-adt.html So there are several things that you are going to find difficult (but only because you are young and inexperienced...this is going to take time). Basically, you need a general idea of java programming and preferrably Object Oriented programming (which unless you've taken a CS course, I doubt). Sounds like you have some basics down (realize that that is a LONG WAY away from Object oriented programming). OK, so once you understand the basics of Java, you THEN need to learn something TOTALLY different (and that isn't really specific to Java) and that is how to layout panels to make a GUI (graphical user interface). So, you are supposed to specify these types of things in XML format...however, I will tell you that this gets complicated to do "interesting" things. The OTHER thing you will need to understand is some basic 2D graphics tricks (assuming you want to make a 2D game--3D is a whole 'nother beast). If you want to do a lot of "custom" animation, then you need to understand how to generate frames and play them (at the SAME SPEED)--whether or not you do the above (heavily--it will always involve SOME custom animation)--you will need to understand sprite animation...basically, you have a background and then sprites that take up a small portion of the background--to make things efficient you DON'T need to redraw the background, JUST the area where the sprites MOVE! So that involves TWO things: 1) animation and 2) sprite animation. Alright, so can you do it? Yeah, you can do it--but it's going to take at LEAST a few years. You're NOT going to learn all of the things you need to PLUS program a "sharp" looking game in a year (from where you are starting). But if you stick with it, you could probably have something nice by the time you're out of high school (and if you decide to get a CS degree you may be well ahead of many other students).
