How much is a hair transplant for a scar?

Will the NHS fund a hair transplant?

  • I'm a 25 year old woman and have a scar (bald patch) on my scalp about the size of a large coin. It happened when I was a baby when I was burnt with a cigarette. I've had 2 operations on it to try and remove the skin and stitch the hairlines together but the didn't work and I was told by a surgeon that any attempt to try it again could make the scar bigger. I know it may sound vain and stupid but this is something that as plagued my life and I feel so self concious about it. I think the only other method open to me now is a hair transplant, if possible, but I have nowhere near enough money to go private. Would the NHS fund it? Afterall some women can get breast implants on the NHS is their cheat is too small and it plagues their lives so isn't it the same sort of thing? Thank you.

  • Answer:

It would be worth your while asking your doctor if he would refer you. I agree with you ,you should be able to get it done on the NHS.......................
