How to retrieve data from parse?

How Do I Retrieve Data From My Laptop's Hard Drive?

  • My roommate has an Acer Aspire 5251 series laptop, containing important data and photos. It hasn't been working in quite awhile, but she wishes to retrieve the data from the computer. I tried plugging it in and turning it on, although nothing happened. The power cord lights up when plugged in, but no lights turn on on the laptop itself. Nothing happens when I hit the power button. I don't care if the laptop works or not, but I'm looking for some way to retrieve this data. Is it possible to take the hard drive out of the computer and plug it into my laptop/desktop in order to access the data? I'm familiar with how desktops function, but I'm lost when it comes to the hardware-part of laptops. I'm not looking to spend any money to get it fixed, so I don't wish to use any sort of site that requires payment - many of the sites I saw on Google were that sort. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

The eaiset way is ti remove the hard drive from your laptop and get a hard drive enclosure for about $10.00 at Fry's. Make sure to get the right one. It will either be a IDE(Pata) or a SATA drive. Once you have put it together, Install a free program called Recurva. Once you have installed. Plug the hard drive in via the USB plug. Locate it on "MY computer" once you locate run the Recurva program and tell it what you are looking for ie pictures, documents, videos or music or all of the above. Make a Folder in your documents on your desktop and call it " Recovery Files" Start the program and let it run. Good Luck and Enjoy Joe The Old Computer Guy PS: Please remember to vote to the best answer even if it may not be mine.

Yep, you're going to have to get down with that laptop. Flip it over and get to work locating the Hard drive. Just yank it out (not literally) and use an eSATA port on your laptop/desktop or a USB to SATA connection to connect the Hard drive to your desktop/laptop.

Turn laptop over, remove bottom cover, locate HDD, remove HDD, buy 2.5" caddie (IDE or SATA), place HDD in caddy, plug in USB lead in to another computer, retrieve data, job done Edit - The light on the power adapter may light up, but does the charge-light on the laptop also light up? If no then the cord is knackered, you might be able to remove a length of it near the adapter end, where it plugs in to the laptop and resolder it to the connector. If the charge-light is on but nothing happens when the power button is pressed then check the DIMMs are seated correctly, otherwise it points to a more serious problem. @ The Old Computer Guy - the program you are thinking of is Recuva which is available free from http://www.pirisoft.com Thankyou.

Try to use data recovery software to help you. I recommend you use Card Data Recovery.
