How to dial a number from Canada to the UK?

How would I call a UK number?

  • I live in Canada. If I want to call someone from a different area code I have to dial 1-(area code)-(phone number). If I were to call someone from Canada to the UK, would it be the same but with a UK area code (London)? Would the same rules apply if I were to text someone in the UK? I'm not actually planning on calling a UK number. I don't know anyone who lives there lol, I'm just curious.

  • Answer:

Well landline numbers in the UK begin with something like 01749 *** *** depending on where you live the first 5 numbers are different. Mobiles are just 11 characters beginning with 07. To call a mobile it's +447*** *** *** To call a landline it's either +441749 *** *** or 00441749 (+ = 00) (44 is country code) (* = number) That looks much more confusing than it really is.
