How to get started as an actor?

  • I will be turning 20 this coming January. I want to get as much experience as possible in order to audition for movies and TV, but I have no idea how to get started. I don't have much experience in high school or anything below that, because of my shyness. I always wanted to do acting, but up until recently I haven't had the guts to do it. Now that I have overcome my fear, I'm hoping to get started soon, even if its something as simple as an extra. I will be attending community college this fall and will be taking acting classes. Hopefully this will help. How to I get started? And if necessary, how do I find an agent when I have so little to put on a resume?

    take a LOT of acting classes like 1 page worth of acting classes! talent agency love that. so after you do that start sending your resume full of all your classes and a photo to talent agencies. it quite easy just go to google and type talent agency in " your city" and a few should pop up. then open it up and read what you need to mail them. sometimes they ask for an audition tape and sometimes it just a photo and resume. then in about a couple of weeks they would call and ask to meet you where they will interview and you and maybe ask for you to read a monologue for them. if you did good then they will sign you and you would be on your way to fame. agency job is to try to book you the best tv shows, movies, and commercial that suits you so it takes time. also because the fact that you are 20 and not a teen actor agency would want more from you so you should really take A LOT A LOT of classes!

You won't get any auditions until you have a good agent, and you won't get an agent until you've had at least a couple of years of weekly classes and a lot of experience. Don't bother with being an extra - it can actually hinder an acting career. Get classes, get experience, get over the shyness. Good luck!

.Go on Google and type in talent agents. You really have to watch out because some are fakes. Once you get an agent he/she will find shows you can audition for. After that your all done! PS, try different activities to put on your resume. Examples: Singing, dance, gymnastics (stunts), and more. Your score will get even better!
