Is sustainable development different from economic growth?

Master in Economic Development or Macroeconomics and Growth?

  • This is a question for my husband. He is studying his Masters Degree in France and is wondering if he would have a future in the USA if he studied Economic Development or Macroeconomics and Growth?

  • Answer:

A number of students are getting a master degree in development (I don't believe many places offer a MA/MS in macroeconomics/growth). Unless he is getting a degree from a top school, he is much better off with a masters degree in finance. Honestly, if he already has two masters degrees in finance and economics another degree is not going to help. A doctorate degree is likely to be much more successful in finding employment. Most Phd's in economics and finance have extremely low unemployment rates, plus most of these degrees are funded.

neither, unless he is planning on going on to earn a Phd. I know because my friends just graduated with a MA in economic development and are currently working in fast food. very sad. if he can, just tell him to go into "economics". it's way more transferable and way more in demand.
