Oxford or Cambridge University?

Can i apply to Oxford/Cambridge after completing one year in a UK university?

  • I am from India and have applied for undergraduate degree in Economics to some universities in the UK for 2012 entry. I have received conditional offers from all of my five UCAS choices. If i spend one year at, say, University of Warwick or University of Bristol, can I apply to Oxford/Cambridge for 2013 entry? Please don't tell me to look up on their website, I have searched them up and couldn't find anything about this.

  • Answer:

Yes, you can but you'll need to apply through UCAS again.

Yes, you can only apply to one of Oxford OR Cambridge in one application cycle. Oxbridge does not accept transfer students; so even if you did apply next application season and do get an offer to start university in 2013, you will NOT be offered any credit for courses you've already completed in Warwick or Bristol. If you really want to go to Oxbridge very badly, and if you think you have a good shot, then don't go to university this year. Rather save the money and better your chances at being accepted to Oxbridge- practice for interviews, learn for admission tests (Oxford needs them) and maybe take 1 or 2 extra A Level Subjects.
