What do I need to do to get my CDA?

How do i get my rda license?

  • I recently moved to Cali from Va. The laws are different to work as a dental assistant. I need an RDA (Registered Dental Asst) license, but I am lost to how to get it. I have done just a tad bit of research on the websites CDA (California Dental Assoc), DBC (Dental Board of California), ADA (American Dental Assoc) etc. I have also emailed one of the websites asking for guidance on what the first step of taking my license is. No one has responded and I need help! Who can I speak to where I can get some answers I need??!

  • Answer:

You can work as a dental assistant without a RDA but your duties will be limited. The DBC website will tell you what you are allowed to do, what RDAs are allowed to do, and what tests you need to pass. The website should also tell you how to obtain your RDA. Don't expect anyone from CA to call you back because the whole system sucks and getting accurate info from a real person is iffy at best; if you want anything done you have to find out for yourself and get it done yourself. You will find that incompetent bureaucrats run the place (at least that has been my experience). Check this website out to find out how to obtain your RDA. CA does not recognize any out of state certifications, btw. http://www.dbc.ca.gov/applicants/rda/becomelicensed_rda.shtml
