Is there anyway to transfer data from one user on a PS3 to another PS3?
-
So I was thinking of getting a new PS3 but I don't want to lose my trophy information, I want it to be stored on the system in the 'Trophies' section. But I don't want to do a system transfer because I don't have any extra Ethernet cords and even if I did I would just want my data, not the rest of my families. Another reason I was thinking of getting a new PS3 for myself would be so that I could have more memory (my families PS3 is one of the original 'fat model' 80 GB models) because my families PS3 has about 5 GB of space left but I am often downloading things such as add-ons for games such as Call of Duty. So basically is there anyway to transfer my data (from one user) to a new PS3 without the system transfer (which transfers ALL data from ALL users)? Thanks!

Answer:
The easiest thing to do would be to get an external hard drive, and the free demo of acronis disc director 11. Format the external hard drive into FAT32, and then plug it in via USB cable to the PS3, then go into your save data files, picture files, music files, settings files etc. press triangle and copy the files you want to transfer over to the external HDD. When you get your new PS3, just plug the external HDD into the new PS3, select the external HDD and copy everything back onto the system. The system transfer wouldnt complete when i was moving everything over, so i had to do it through an external HDD. Just be aware that reformatting a hard drive, either internal or external, will erase everything currently on it, so make sure to use an external hard drive that's new, or doesn't have anything valuable stored on it

I know if you are a Playstation PLUS member than you can back-up your PS3 data and you can probably move it to your new PS3, you might want to research that because I'm not too sure about, i have to research it more myself to be honest. sorry
could transfer all users then delete the ones you don't want. trophies can be snyced with the online logon. so when you sign into playstation network they snyc to their servers, so a new console with same network account will load all old trophies
