How to get rid of a cold?

How to get rid of this cold quickly I am going into hospital next Friday?

• Yesterday I suddenly came down with a really bad cold my health isn't 100% I am always one of the first to get my flu jab as I am most at risk of catching things and I am sure you all know that people with health issues always get there flu jabs first at there GP. I have asthma too I am quite wheezy and using my inhaler for it. I am going into hospital for a General Anasethic for an injection into my ankle joint as ive had 8 years of a bad ankle and I am now worried that he won't do it because this cold is awful my nose is really badly blocked up and earlier my eyes went really blurry and I felt pressure behind my eye and got a slight headache pain on the left side of my head. How on earth do I get rid of this cold quickly before it gets any worse? I took my temperature it is 98.9 I am staying in bed but meant to go out later on today and I really don't want it to get any worse as I do have a very low immune system. Thanks guys x

  There's nothing you can do to make a cold go away faster. At best you can take medicine to control the symptoms. Medicines do not make you better. They make you feel better. The cold will last as long as it takes for your immune system to mount a response. THere's no evidence that any of the hippie remedies, or anything really, can make that happen any faster than nature intended. Best option for you is bed rest and prayer. Also, if you have a fever, tylenol can reduce it. That's never a bad idea.
