Inkjet vs Laser printers, which is better?

  • Currently, I have a HP inkjet color printer which I use mainly for school work. I use it quite frequently and I hate how the ink runs out very quickly. I don't use color ink a lot unless I have to print some photos or pictures. Printing pictures consumes a lot of ink and my printer sometimes stops working if there is a depleted cartridge even if the right color needed is still available. Right now, I just want to know what kind of new printer I should get. I need a color printer that has long lasting cartridges with good quality. I don't mind having a slow printer. Also, I want to know which brand is recommended.

    If you can afford it a color laser printer would be a better option than a color inkjet printer, something like the HP Color Laserjet CM2330nf has an average page yield of 2,000 per toner. If you are an infrequent color user you'll get a lot of mileage out of your C M and Y toners, and the yeilds from the black toner are comparably larger than most inkjet printers. The tradeoff is that laser printers are poor for printing photo paper images, and will not support 6-color photo printing.

Laser toner cost much more but last much longer! Laser is cheaper cause the toner last so much longer than inkjet ink!
