What kind of jobs do they have in Germany?

Can I move to Germany as national guard?

  • My girlfriend is active, and she just got her orders for Germany. I am ARNG and I am wondering if it is possible to live in Germany if I am in the ARNG. What kind of jobs are there for me being a Civilian Soldier? I am a 25Q which is communications, I don't speak german. We were also looking to get married. What would happen with us?

  • Answer:

    1. You cannot just move to gernamy -- you have to have a work visa, which means you would have to have a job in germany, before you get the visa 2. There are no guard units in germany, but there are reserve units in germany so you would have to submit a da form 368 to be released from the guard to enlist in the reserves

I dont know for sure, and am just taking a stab at this (an unusual but interesting question). However, I seriously doubt Guard and Reserve can serve in a "non active" duty capacity. ONLY If you are "activated", could you be deployed to another country, etc.. Again, thats just my knee jerk response....Hoorah

No Guard overseas. No boyfriend or girlfriends allowed to go. No spouse unless the tour is accompanied. Army and Navy Reserve used to be in Germany and Italy.

Actually I've read in an army magazine that they have army reserve units there. You might want to look into that! Possibly switching from guard to reserves?
