What to do about termites in an apartment?

What do I do about termites in my artwork?

  • My apartment has termites! I discovered them when they started swarming (ew). At this point I'm not sure, but I think they may the drywood kind, which are, as I understand it, more common here in Florida. Pest control will be treating them, but I have found them in my sketchpads. I have a lot of my old artwork in my closet and I am worried the termites will damage it. Should I bag it all in plastic, or store it elsewhere? I don't want to spread the bugs. Also, we can't move for 7 months, would it be possible to bring the termites with us on the furniture?

  • Answer:

Get that answer from your professional exterminator that is fumigating your residence. They will be able to identify the type termite they are and how to correctly treat them and potential of taking them with you. I saw an article on TV the other night that the state of Florida has identified a new variety of termites in the state and are trying hard to control them before they spread too far.
