How to learn anything fast?

Should you learn how to do a backwalkover before you learn a backhandspring? Will that make anything easier?

  • Answer:

In general, yes. Everything in gymnastics/tumbling is progression based. Handstand, handstand into bridge, bridge kickover, front/back limbers, backwalkover... All of these are skills that lead up to a back handspring. Obviously it's not impossible to learn one without being able to do the other, but your form, technique, and ability to do the skill safely are improved if you do. I would run far away from any coach who insisted otherwise.
