How can i get cheaper car insurance?
-
I have been looking around for car insurance for a while now and other than getting a pretty good quote from a company that fit a box inside my car, the other quotes are no lower than £4,500! It's a 1.4 Astra, nothing fancy about it. It's a bigger car than usual learner drivers drive but i'm sure the quotes i am getting ar way to high..£1000 deposit and £492 a month? Help needed!

Answer:
That's what it costs for teens, either pay up or do what a lot of kids are doing nowadays and get a bike instead.

Its just something you have to deal with, my first was a 1.2 Corsa and i got quotes of over £4000 a year, its because of your age. Best thing to do is to get one of your parents added to your policy as a named driver which will drop your cost by quite a bit, i had my mother as a named driver and quotes went from over £4000 to £2500 a year, its still expansive but it drops alot after your first year, mine nearly halved.

The average for a smaller engined car than that is £3100 - on a 1.4 you are never going to get that low. A 1.4 is now a bit too big and fancy for a learner and is not an average choice.

Try looking on some comparison websites. There are many of these you can visit but i would persificly reccomend compare the market.com where you can compare all car insurence brands. My whole family use this website and its highly recomendable, quick and easy to use. It has a list of all the cheepest brands so you can choose one thats right for you as it shows you every little detail about each one. As the advert says, compare the meerkat is the same except you comapare incomparable meerkats if that makes sense! (great for the kids by the way!!!) good luck and i hope you find the best and cheepest brand suitible for you!"
Just don't like the idea of a 'black box' in my car.To get you insurance down to a reasonable cost , like say £450 per annum , you have to prove you can drive in a safe and mature manner and this could take you 5 years or more to bring down your no claims bonus , it like you are on probation. The mysterious Post Code rules exist , if you happen to live in a high crime area , they will almost certainly put over £50 on for no apparent reason. Your driving history will also tell a lot.

You can do 3 things. Become less risky. Do some advanced driving training. You're too young to do IAM but there are qualifications that your insurer will recognise. Ask them. Live in a less risky part of the country. Probably not an option. Drive a less risky car. Ask your insurers about the lowest groups or get test quotes for different slow cars that no one wants to steal. 1 And 3 are feasible. If you stick with your Astra you will pay more and that difference may well be much than the cost of changing to a lower group car.

Unfortunately, your first year will always cost a bomb. Try the usual price comparison websites. You may find that adding an experienced driver to your quote might reduce your premium. Also try and choose a smaller engine. A 1litre. Something like a vauxhall corsa is usually cheap on insurance. Astras i belive are pricey. Do the same search on a nissan micra or ford ka and you will see what i mean..

If you are under age 25, unmarried, and not previously insured, you are going to pay a lot. That is because Unmarried young guys with no history tend to kill themselves and each other. Your rate will drop a little next year, and it will drop more if you get married. Considering what a lousy reputation marriage has these days you might be better off paying the extra premium. Or not driving. Mobility is nice, but maintaining a car will keep you broke for a long time.

depends on a lot of things including type of insurance, where you live, your age, no claims & how long you've been driving. As daft as it sounds - go compare.com My insurance renewal was 1536 - (with 4 yrs no claims) they just told me it'd be 128 per month - I found a quote for 670 - brilliant!! I actually got a better price by trying fully comp instead of 3rd party & you can mess about trying different combinations. An experienced 2nd driver will help too - good luck

That's shocking mate i feel for you seems like insurance companies are trying to price high risk teenagers out of the market to maximise profit whilst reducing risk.
