Can you hydroponically grow pitayas?

Can I grow a veggie or fruit plant on a radiator? Can I have plant suggestions?

  • I do not know how to garden but I want to learn how. So I would like to grow two plants indoors for the sake of learning/experimenting and keep it all year long. My parents said I can only grow it in my room. The only area I have to grow plants in my room is on the radiator. The radiator has a metal cover and is right in front of a window. I already have vase like pots with a base that is separate from where the soil is held. So if I grow plants in there the roots would be a few inches above the radiator ( and this is assuming the roots will grow all the way to the bottom ). I know it isn't exactly ideal, but would I be able to grow any thing there or would it die? I would like to grow either a veggie or fruit plant ( or both, I have two pots ). So are there any veggie or fruit plants that I can grow indoors all year long?

  • Answer:

If the radiator is on it will dry the plants out and the whole plant will get too hot. Fruit plants do not grow the year round. Herbs can be grown the year round.
