How can I make a hole through a stone or crystal?

Why does a high speed bullet make a clean hole on a window pane where as a stone completely shatters it?

  The resion behind this phenemenon, is something related to momentum.The matter depends upon the velocity,shape and size of the moving body. The matter can be understood from a simple experimant, where we will put a coin on a stiff card covering an empty glass tumbler. Now if we flick with the finger horiziontally,the curd will move away but the coin will remain and fall into the tumbler, it is because the inertia of the coin tries to maintain its state of rest, while the card flows off. But it will not happen if we slowly pull the card, if it is done the coin will move along with card. Thus speed matters here. Hope it will help you.
