Taking a vacation in west bay or west end, roatan honduras! where to stay and what to do!?
-
hi guys i need some help! me and my college buddies are planning to go on a 9 to 10 day vacation on the island of roatan, honduras in the spring of 2013. we would like to either stay at west end or west bay. we want nice beaches in front of our hotel and things to do in the village and being able to go on jungle hikes and etc. so which part whould be better for that? we want to be able to go out to bars on the beach at night and have some fun and go into the west bay or west end village and listen to music at bars and so on but still be able to enjoy the beautiful beaches and snorkaling and jungle hiking and ziplining in the day. so which place would fit that description better, west end or west bay? and also, what villas or lodges are right on the beach and has bars and fun activits around it? ive been looking and i saw bananarama resort in west bay and noticed it was right on the beach and seemed like it was in the middle of everything and had fun stuff to do at night, is that a good resort? or any other suggestions of resorts right on the beach and in the middle of everything? please answer all my questions everybody and give me any tips i need to know and me and my friends would really appreciate before we book and final our trip! thank you everybody and every answer is greatly appreciated.

It isn't much more than a mile between West Bay and West end by way of the beach. So where you stay isn't really that critical. The Hotels in West Bay are generally higher end than in West End, but West End has the biggest selection of discos, restaurants and bars, and gift shops. To zip line or see most of the sights you are likely going to have to take a taxi or bus-or rent a car or scooters-so again where you spend your nights isn't that important. Bananarama is a good choice for lodging and now that I think about it, I believe they even have a bus that will take you around to some of the attractions. Lastly, while there are some nature trails on the island, if you want a genuine jungle hike, you will have to take the ferry across to the mainland and visit Pico Bonito National Park outside of La Ceiba.
