Should graduates be issued an exit exam? Why or why not?

What is your opinion on the CAHSEE?

• So, not too long ago I took the CAHSEE(California State Exit Exam). This test is the test every sophomore in California takes to graduate from his/her high school. I, myself am not very good at math. I know this. The test is split into two portions. English and Math. I passed English with flying colors. Math, I did not pass. Therefore, I must retake apparently both tests until passed. I have two more chances. But why should a test be the reason I graduate from high school? I work hard everyday in school. Good grades, I do my homework, everything! Math isn't my strong suit, it never will be. I studied my butt off for the CAHSEE and still failed. So once again, why should a test be the reason I graduate from school when I work hard at school and strive for the best. Why should a test be the reason anyone graduates from high school when they work hard? I'm very frustrated. Especially considering the fact California is the only state in the U.S with this exit exam. I'd like to know every ones opinions on the CAHSEE. So, this isn't exactly a question but hey, why not.

  Passive studying is not a guarantee for success on test. Memory recall functions via retrieval cues, associations, and repetition. There are two technological methods to improve math skills. 1. prove using active recall in a spaced repetition system that every previous formula/definition/procedure that you have learned is in long-term memory. 2. Organized all of the material in a hierarchy, so that the info can be retrieved in a top-down manner. In math you must be able to retrieve ALL of the necessary information. One forgotten formula or definition can ruin everything.
