How do you make a Website like Twitter/Facebook?

    If you are completely serious about this, then you need to start learning HTML, CSS, PHP, and Javascript. Facebook and Twitter have tons of developers with lots of experience, so you won't be able to make a site of that magnitude without years of studying, and some help too! (And that's no guarentee that it will be as popular as those sites, the idea for a social media site has to be original, like twitter was) http://w3schools.com/ is a good place to start learning HTML, CSS, Javascript, and PHP. That's where I learned quite a bit of stuff. Another thing that you could learn about the design of webpages is by looking at the sourcecode (right click and click view source on a webpage) You can see how they desgined a page from there. (Although some websites have a lot of PHP stuff running in the background, you won't be able to see how the server communicates with other internal servers just by viewing the sourcecode) Good luck!

I think to start, you need your own server, which takes a ton of money in itself. Facebook started as a college-campus thing, so if you are in a "network" of some kind, already, you can cater to that, and if the layout is universal enough, "outsiders" will want to sign up as well.
