Replacing my modem? and buying a wireless router?
-
I've been thinking of replacing my 2wire with a netgear modem??is that recommended?? Or should I call my service provider And ask them to send me a new modem?? What should I say? And I'm thinking about also buying a netgear router, specifically the n600 but how does that work with the modem itself??

Answer:
YOU NEED A MODEM TO TRANSFER ANALOG TO DIGITAL AND THEN CONNECT TO THE ROOTER (A ROUTER WITHOUT A MODEM DOES NOT WORK IF YOU NEED INTERNET)

you should ask your ISP if the Netgear modem will work with their service or not. often, there are standards involved that the modem must comply with, and only the ISP will know what those are. also, it is BEST to get a modem that has a router integrated, if at all possible. not only is this CHEAPER, but also, it generally makes troubleshooting easier. especially when Port Forwarding :)
