How to make slave disk with second copy of Windows main and bootable?

Can I create a bootable Windows XP install disk from a recovery disk for another computer by slipstreaming?

  • I want to re-install windows onto a IBM computer that I fixed. It had Windows XP Professional before. The product key is still on the case. Okay so can I use the recovery disks from a different computer say an HP and combine different files in order to make a bootable XP professional install CD, and use my product key to install it? I have read up on slipstreaming and they all reference an original windows install disk, but will the recovery disks from a different computer be enough to make a Windows xp professional install disk?

  • Answer:

Technically in an open forum like Yahoo Questions and Answers, I can't say yes, you can only try and see if it will work. You would definitely need to download the hardware drivers for the IBM and put them on a CD before you make this kind of attempt.
