Can i play football with arthritis?

Do you need to play high school football to play college football?

  • I'm a junior in high school and have been told by many to play high school football. But my family can't afford to place me in it, though I even got offered a scholarship to play in high school, but another thing came up that led to me not being able to play (broken collarbone and different bones). I know various different formations and rules, I even play with varsity players throughout my area and some being the best in the state and all told me I should play. I usually play TE,QB, etc out side of high school and play typically every or every other weekend. I am also in fairly good shape and hit the gym (24hr fitness) when I can. So will I be able to get involved in college football or is their a way I can get involve. I am currently a junior and can't play next year because i'm attending military school, so is their a way I can play in college?

  • Answer:

Many colleges, particularly those not in NCAA Division I, will take a good look at "walk-ons" at the first practice session.

Yes, you can try to get on as a walk-on, but that will be tough. Many schools, particularly the NCAA Division 1 teams, recruit high school football players to play for them, so the chances of playing college football is much greater if you play on a high school team. But, hey, if you want to play, ask whatever school you end up going to if you can try out as a walk on. If the coaches are impressed, they might just let you on some part.
