Can i play football with arthritis?

Do you need to play high school football to play college football?

  • I'm a junior in high school and have been told by many to play high school football. But my family can't afford to place me in it, though I even got offered a scholarship to play in high school, but another thing came up that led to me not being able to play (broken collarbone and different bones). I know various different formations and rules, I even play with varsity players throughout my area and some being the best in the state and all told me I should play. I usually play TE,QB, etc out side of high school and play typically every or every other weekend. I am also in fairly good shape and hit the gym (24hr fitness) when I can. So will I be able to get involved in college football or is their a way I can get involve. I am currently a junior and can't play next year because i'm attending military school, so is their a way I can play in college?

  • Answer:

Your chances of playing college ball would be considerably better if you played high school ball...Not having the experience would be a big disadvantage to you... I can only suggest that you try and walk on to a college.. You might even consider going the JUCO route first where you can gain the experience and knowledge and possibly, if you have the talent, get a chance to play at a higher level school... Good luck....

My dad got in as a walk on to USC without getting a scholarship, so to anwer your question, yes its possible but there is a slim possiblity that you will actually play in college unless your really good.

Yes, it is possible for you to play college football, even without playing football in high school. My best advice for you is to try out, and become a walk-on, for a college football program. Considering that you will not have played high school football, I highly recommend that you start out at the junior college level. Keep in mind, if you take the junior college route, and perform very well in football during your time at the junior college, you can still get recruited to play for a Division 1 College Football program in the future.

If you got the skills, yes, however most colleges know how good you are based on your past highschool football career. Use San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates for example, he played basketball all throughout college and was drafted into the NFL withoit knowing alot about the sport, and now he is currently one of the best TE the NFL has to offer.

Walk on and try out for the team at the military school. I hope that helps you. At Idaho State university we had a 33 year old freshman and he was big for a lineman he lasted three years and tw years on scholarships. Coach got fired and the new coach did not renew his scholarship.
