A good summer job for a 15-year-old?

Local golf caddy...is it a good summer job? does it have a good pay?

  • I'd like to be a golf caddy over the summer. I was wondering if it is a good job as in is it to demanding or is it laid back? I'd also want to know how much a local club would pay. Is it a salary? Or does most of the work come from tips? What can i do to earn a good tip, and how can I move up to getting the good tippers quickly? Also I am 14 I don't know very much about the rules of golf, and how can I learn how to give advice about the hole?

  • Answer:

I worked as a caddy for a summer with no experience. I got paid minimum wage which was $8.50 at the time. However with the tips I was making around $14.00 an hour. The golfers helped me to understand the game all I had to do was ask.

Good question. I have been a caddie most of my liffe and I love it. First thing is you must learn to zip your yap. Do not speak, unless spoken to. Know the distances of the par 3's. Never put a bag down on the putting green,(EVER). Know the distances, know where the places on tthe course to avoid are.Always be ready to rake bunkers and always replace divots. Good luck.
