Answer:
Yes u definitely can start! My sister has always loved ice skating but she didn't start taking lessons until she was 13! She didn't know anybody and at first it was a little awk but then she got totally used to it and is really happy she started skating. She's almost 14 now and has improved soooooo much like she is actually pretty good. But she also takes 1 private lesson a week. I think that is a good idea to do so u don't have to worry about younger kids that r beginner ice skaters like u and u learn faster! Well good luck! And happy skating lol

If you love it then go for it! There is no harm in trying! If you regret it, now is a perfect time to start because you are not getting any younger, and you will be more prone to hurting yourself or being really cautious the older that you get. You should not try to teach yourself "tricks", and you should wait for a qualified coach or instructor to teach you how to do elements and skills. Are you scared to start something new or scared to tell your mother? If you are scared to start something new then you will just have to take it one step at a time, and try your best to get over this fear. If you are scared of telling your mother, don't be! You have to trust that she will support your opinions. Explain to her how you regret that you quit, and how much you love it. For getting skates, I answered this question when you posted it separately. Good luck and have fun with your lessons! PS. I started skating when I was 12

Of course you should! there's no wrong age for starting! well of you tell your mom! just during dinner or anytime your with her bring up ice skating and how much you miss it, then ask if you can start again! If she let you do it once hopefully she will let you start up again. hope i helped! :)

Of course it's not too late. I started lessons when I was 22! The only way it would be considered too late was if you wanted to go to Nationals/Olympics/Worlds. But otherwise, anyone can start at any time and compete. Whatever you do, DO NOT teach yourself anything (especially any "tricks". And they're not "tricks". They're elements). You can get skates whenever you like. However please make sure you go to a pro shop and get fitted for a proper pair of beginner figure skates. Now here's the important thing to remember when telling your mum: Skating is EXPENSIVE. Even with the cheaper group lessons, when you add up lessons, practice ice, skates etc skating is a very costly sport. Just a proper pair of beginner skates alone is $100+. I spend $300 a month on my skating and that's lessons and practice ONLY. So if your mum says she can't afford it, don't whine and cry or stomp your foot. She may genuinely not be able to afford it. Your mum may also be hesitant to let you start because you quit before. She may not want to invest all that money only to see you quit again as soon as things get tough or if you have another stupid pathetic reason to quit (like "no-one that I knew there" wtf). If that is her reason, well, you've no-one to blame but yourself.

I started skating at 13 :) It's fine, but you can't expect to go to the olympics, apparently it's supposed to be a little hard at that age, but I personally don't think so, as long as you practice and put your mind to it and do it with love. And you will see that you will progress really fast, because you understand more than the little children who start at an extremely young age And for your mom how about telling her about your feelings about the sport and asking her her opinion (sorta instead of imposing the idea) : What do you think if I take up a few lessons to start again? I'll tell you my experience with telling my parents. It was pretty simple. My mom didn't mind as long as paid for it. But the only reason I can skate now is because of they money I saved from gifts since I was four, and I'm telling you now, when you start getting serious about it, you probably will need financial support and you could find some easy summer jobs to do such as babysitting or cutting lawn or whatever. Now, I have a certain amount of house work to do in exchange for some help with the money. Putting that aside, lets say your parents don't mind paying for it (even if its VERY expensive when you get to taking private lessons) then they might say that you don't have time between our school and homework. Put a little effort 'till the end of this year, try to improve your grades and show them you are responsible (maybe take care of the house). What I do is that I take care of all my lessons so all my parents have to do is drive me (although I am soon taking the bus), so I make the calls, register and all. That can show maturity and gives no reason to your parents to say no. Also, from personal experience, I tell you that you can't keep worrying about having your friends with you at all times in figure skating. You will eventually make friends but you must love THE SPORT. When I started my basics I was put with a group of 5-8 year olds and the oldest person in the group lessons was 10, but I ignored the fact because I wanted to learn THE SPORT. just sayin so you don't make the mistake twice. Finally, I recommend getting boots when you are done your basics, after that rental is hard to skate with, so pretty much when you start your waltz jumps (about) Hope I helped :)
