How to upgrade car audio?

How to upgrade car's electrical system.?

  • Right now I have- 2 12" Kickers (150 RMS each) with custom ported box. Kenwood aftermarket head unit 800w Kenwood amp (150X2, 300X1 or something) I'll also consider some Dynamat in the end. Overall I want to upgrade my subwoofers, rear speakers, and amps- I only have one amp but I'll add another for the mids. I'm not in any rush so I'm going to make sure my electrical system is in check before I upgrade anything. I drive a 98 Honda Accord LX Sedan with factory alternator and battery. I know I'll need to upgrade to a high-output alternator...so should I also get a deep-cycle battery and upgrade the wiring? Or is the alternator the only necessary thing? Right now I have this "boomy" feeling, where I hear the bass more than I feel it. I hope it's just a matter of upgrading everything, and not a product of how the car is built.

  • Answer:

What you got right now is getting plenty of power and won't affect your car much I'd do big 3 upgrade first Battery second You won't need a alternator upgrade with what You have... just with first two upgrade you'd be fine with double what you got Those kickers are loud but they low level meaning they won't move alot of air... your going to hear it more than feel but that's your equipment not the car. Not saying bad but quality of sound will go up with addition of better door speakers
