How do i Hand feeding baby parakeets?

tricky question. some parakeet parents will allow small amounts of handling of babies and be perfectly fine with it (this is when the babies are older), some will reject the babies. if you are going to hand feed them, only hand feed them just in case, or if you want the parents to raise them, do not interfere. if you decide to hand feed, the babies will need to be fed very often (probably every 3-4 hours) i do not suggest hand feeding a baby bird unless you have someone present who is experienced to show you how, because one wrong move could kill the baby bird. you would need a syringe and powdered baby bird formula that can both be purchased at any pet store. you need to mix the formula with water to a consistency that can be sucked up by the syringe but not too liquidy that the bird only received water. an eye dropper for only water is needed also to give the bird a bit of water if it has trouble swallowing. normally you would need to insert the syringe into the baby bird's throat in the correct location and then squirt the food directly into its crop. if this is done incorrectly (and there are dozens of ways to do this wrong) the baby bird could die (either from choking, suffocation, syringe through the neck, drowning from the food, too much food, and so on). this is why someone experienced needs to show you how to do it. i have found that if you squirt the food in the back of the throat and allow the bird to swallow on its own, the chances of something crazy happening are less, but this depends on if the bird is old enough and able to swallow on its own, then you would give it a drop or two of water to help it swallow. you feed them till the crop is full, and feed them again when the crop is empty. i'm only telling you this because if you do decide to do it, which i hope you don't, that you do it correctly. to be honest, i don't think kids in preschool are not going to remember any of this "raising" process you would be showing them, wait till mid elementary before you go into something this advanced for the kids. my mother didn't teach me till i was 8. my advice, leave the parents to their parenting until the babies have almost all of their feathers, then allow the children to handle them, and keep it as minimal handling as possible even then because too much handling can stress the baby out (no more then an hour a day). when the baby can perch on a branch on its own, then you can handle it a little more.

There is a good chance that they would abandon the babies if you mess about with them too much.
