How to work out Ucas Points?

Ucas Points and Grades in A level ?

  • First of all, I'm in my middle of Alevel course and about to sit for my A2 exams in a week time and i can't figure out how to calculate Ucas points and how to equivalent Ucas points with the real Grades. One of my friends says she already got an A in her As and so she doesn't need an A in her A2 anymore corz she's got what the university asked for; an A ! so how does this work ?? lets say if you have B in biology (150 ucas points) and if you need an A grade in overall A level.. how much more ucas points do u need ? How much is an overall ucas point to achieve A grade in the whole A level ? p.s : i'm doing edexcel A level bio, chemistry and maths. Please please please HELP !!!!

  • Answer:

A* - 140pts A - 120pts B - 100pts C - 80pts D - 60pts E - 40pts Eg. If by the end of your a-levels you got an A in all your exams, you would have a total of 360pts. The figures I have given above are for overall grades right at the end. From my experience, when it came to me putting my grades on my UCAS form, I was told only to put up my final grades and not every individual module because at the end of the day that is what the uni really wants (they don't need to know every mark/module grade) unless they state otherwise depending on subject/strictness. Your friend may be right in her case, but most I have come across don't care about just the AS or just the A2, they want you to have a good grade overall so she would have to get a good grade still for it to add up well overall.
