Are there any permenant day time bpo jobs?

Will the fact that I had a spotty job history several years ago stil hinder me?

  • Here is my job situation. I graduated from college in May, 2005 with an accounting degree. I got a job at a CPA firm and worked there from January, 2006 to May, 2007. In May, 2007, I moved to a private company. I was let go from that company in November, 2007. It just wasn't a great fit. I then got another CPA job in December, 2007 and then in April, 2008 was laid off. I believe they hired me under the guise of it being a permenant job and had no intention of keeping me. After that, I temped at another company for 6 months, and I got my current job in April, 2009. I've been here 3 years now. The other day, I was told that my job will likely be eliminated a few months down the road, and they offered me another position in Sales Operations. Don't get me wrong, I am glad the company thinks highly enough of me to want to keep me, I worry if I do that for too long, my accounting skills will atrophy and in a few years, I won't be able to find anothr accounting job if my life depends on it. I'm going to update my resume. Here is what I am wondering: I have had this job for three years, during a time when there were plenty of good people out of work, and if I weren't cutting it, it would have been very easy to replace me. I have been getting good reviews, and the company made an effort to keep me when it became likely my job would be eliminated. I also know I would get good references from this company. Do you think the fact that I had a couple of short term jobs in the past will still hurt me? Or do you think that a potential employer will mostly care about my last job? The company I have been at for 3 years and counting? What do you think?

  • Answer:
