How can I get my parents to let me keep my M rated games?

  • Hello I am 14 and I have some M rated games that I have bought over the last few years, and basically this happened yesterday. We went to the gamestop so I could get quake 4 with my allowance, and the cashier got parental consent then read the tag out loud(strange, but he just doing his job). Anyways He did and one of the tags is Sexual content. My mom asked an explanation(as any good mom should) and he proceeded to explain(like a good employee). The only thing was that he basically made it sound like these publishers don't WNANT kids to play their games and that al M rated games are equivelant to a X rated movie. And now my mom wants all my games, and she won't even be bothered to actualy watch gameplay footage so I can pursuade her otherwise. These are the games I have: Orange Box(X360) Halo(XBox) Halo2(Xbox) Halo3(X360) Halo 3 ODST(X360) Halo reach(X360) CoD3(Xbox) CoD4(X360) Metal Gear Solid 2: SUbstance(Xbox) Doom 3(Xbox) (ok I probably shouldn't have that one but I like it :p) Bioshock 2(X360) (once again probably shouldn't have this one :p) basically I can't really think of anything that they would have an issue with if they were to actually to play/watch someone play the game(except Doom 3 and Bioshock 2, which is kinda obvious). And If you are wondering about The blood, and etc, my parents are fairly liberal with all that, after all I saw austin powers when I was in 7th grade(best movies ever!!!). Anyways I would like some ideas for them to actually make a decision themselves, because quite frankly I can get sick of playing need for speed after a while(Still like it though).

    well, I'm 14 also and your cashier should be ashamed only on AO (adults only) will there be XXX images. i would prepare a case in a sense. so just go on a website where parents rate the games then show her those and if she doesn't want to see them ask her whats the harm? and prepare some game footage

OK, tell Mom you'll watch the evening news instead, where they show footage of the WTC collapse over and over, as well as school shootings, and endless war coverage... Frankly, real life isn't much better, mate. Go play your video games.

The guy at gamestop has no idea what he is talking about M rated game = PG13 movie. A+ rated game = X rated movie. Sexual content is really unnecessary over used in games, a game on the with Sexual content on the back Can and does mean stuff like revealing clothing (Showing skin) other than face, hands, and a bit of arms. The bottom line is Game stop Wont sell a game unless it has a rating By Pegi or ESRB So that dude should of memorized the ratings for ESRB and know what they mean but he does not so he should be fired for somthing that simple. Their are only 6! yeah 6, Diffrent ratings.
