Visual Arts Project Ideas?

  • Ok, so I have a Visual Arts assignment to do, but I'm not completely sure what to do... Basically, what we have to do is select an Australian person who you think is important and/or famous to you, I chose my little cousin, because she means the world to me! This is what else the sheet says: Decide on a medium for presenting a portrait of the person you have chosen (i.e. the 'subject'). You might like to do a detailed sketch, a painting, and abstract artwork, or try incorporating technology into your final piece. Whatever you choose, BE CREATIVE. Also, make sure you consider the PRINCIPLES and ELEMENTS OF ART! That's basically it ... My friend is doing this thing, where she makes these big cubes and sticks all these pictures of her 'subject' on each side... I originally was going to sketch my little cousin .. but i want something so creative.. but i cant think of ANYTHING!!! Thanks

    Create a Collage of her on sturdy mat-board: copy pics of her, utilize jewelry/stick-on jewels, ribbons (maybe from her hair), wrappers from her favorite gum/candy, use her favorite color, if she likes music, cut out/copy a picture of her favorite group, draw some musical notes, find pics in magazines of other things that she likes or places she likes to go, draw a border around the whole edge, use bright colors, triangles, circles, squiggly lines, etc. 'Hope this sparks some good ideas for you.

This may not be 'different' or creative enough but recently I have been drawing large portraits in ballpoint pen/ Biro. Its really fun to work with although a bit tricky. So that might give you a chance to have something a little different.?
