How can I become qualified to be a security guard in Las Vegas,NV?

• Id like to get a job as a security guard in my city (Las Vegas, NV). Please, someone whos familiar with this, can you guide me through the steps to achieve my goal? Ive done a few searches on the net and I've read that in order to get a "guard card" i would first need to get a job as a security officer. BUT how will I achieve this if the companies wish for me to have this card before even applying? Help? Thanks.

  You will need a PILB card. This is the equivalent to a guard card. PILB is private investigators licensing board. You do not need to be employed as a security office to obtain this. You simply need to go to the Nevada PILB website, register, read through the material, take a test, submit fingerprints, and submit the application, Once you clear the background check, you will be issued your PILB card. The confusing part of this, and to answer your second question, is that there exists separate rules for those working as security officers in casinos. This is unique to Las Vegas. If you work in a casino, you do not need a PILB card, you will get our security training through the casino. You will however need a gaming registration, and to get this, the casino will have to of hired you and will provide you with a number to apply for your registration. You will also need to get TAM card which is alcohol awareness. So it really depends what kind of security you intend to. If you want to be armed, you must have a PILB card and the additional firearms certification. t doesn't hurt to get a PILB card even if you don't need it.
