  After changing the BPM (beats per minute) rate (default set as 140BPM) and opening the playlist, you can select which pattern to edit from the left sidebar of the playlist window. Suppose you are selecting pattern 1, the "Sampler" window will appear as a smaller window with several tracks labeled "Kick" "Clap" "HiHat" ect. and a series of unlabeled buttons will be listed following the tracks. Click a few of those buttons and note that they will be depressed and light up with color. Now, outside of that window, press the play button on the top menu bar. If no sound is heard, press the button just to the left of the play button that says : Pat: o Song: o click it until the light to the right of "Pat" is lit up. Press play again.
