Why is my Nissan Maxima still taking so long to start?

1999 Nissan Maxima GLE Stuttering and Will NOT Start (Code PO 105 Map/Baro)?

  • Main code is PO 105 Map/Baro I did a tune up, changed the mass air flow, and changed the fuel filter. When I bought it it was starting but it took about 6 to 8 seconds every time and might need a little help from hitting the gas. Then immediately after you could shut the engine off and start it up and it would start up immediately. Was like this (very long time to start) for the first week....Started it up about 5 times a day on average. Then I let it sit for 2 days and came back and it just stutters/turns over but will not start....After the tune up and fuel filter it seems like it is a step closer (in terms of sound) to wanting to start...But just isn't getting that spark. We tried spraying starter fluid and it still wouldn't start up...My cousin sprayed it and said "careful, might shoot some fire out" and it did....But no start... What is the solution, what part, is there an illustration you can link, and where is it located? Does the code I am getting sound like it will solve the starting issue? It is not the battery either, tried jumping it and charging the battery....Lights work, electric, and it is turning over... ANY IDEAS??? Thanks!

  • Answer:

Yes. The MAP referenced is not a Mass Airflow Sensor, but a Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. Take a look at the forum at the link below for the solution to the problem you're dealing with.
