  • Ok so im going to start the lvn program on May 21st. But my goal is to become a RN I been researching and there really are no schools with lvn to RN program only the 30unit option (whoch I dont wanna do ) im gonna have to pay 30k for lvn program. Im so confused on what to do right now.. Should I continue with the schools and after go to Unitek college and get my RN ASN ?

  • Answer:

I'm confused what you're saying about there are no LVN to RN bridge programs except the "30 unit option which you don't want to do". Um, why not? You do realize that if you get your LVN you are going to have to take that many credits / units to complete your RN degree. If you go straight into an RN program and skip the LVN program you will need approximately 60 credits / units. The LVN program counts as the first half of an RN program. 30k seems really expensive for an LVN program. I suggest shopping around. Choose public, state schools, they will be less expensive. What state do you live in? Google your state board of nursing and on their website, find the page that lists all the schools / education programs that offer LVN and RN and the LVN to RN bridge programs and research them well before you make a decision. For some people it is easier to get into an RN program if they do the LVN route first. It depends on the school situation where you live. All RN programs are very competitive and you'll need to work hard and keep high grades.
