What's a Craigslist email system?

Craigslist returned emails from person replying to my ad?

  • I posted a couple ads on craigslist for things I am selling. I got two email replies sent to me but all that they each said in the email was the title of my ad. So I replied asking them if they are interested and a second later I get an email sent to me from Mail Delivery System and the email says it could not deliver my reply and an attachment also came with the email. Is this a scam? If I download the attachment will it be a virus? Are these real people interested and how can I write back to them? Thank you for your help! :)

  • Answer:

These are not real people and never download any attachment - it's malware. These are spambots that reply to eery ad posted on Craiglist If you could not deliver the reply it's because someone already reported the person and their account was shut down A real person who is interested will mention specifically what you are selling and try to set up a time to meet. A fake buyer will never mention what you are selling - they use generic terms like "the item" and will claim they cannot see it and want to mail you a check/money order or ask for your Paypal account saying their "shipper" will pick it up
