Answer:
Yes, it is very common for people to run this setup, and i know it well. -Ok install windows on your SSD. (do all your windows updates/drivers/etc) -Now go to start > computer > C: (or w/e letter your main SSD is on) > users > yourname. In this folder you can set pretty much all the directories to your other hard drive! (the documents, music, even the downloads folder) Just right click on them, and go to properties. Go to the location tab. Now change the drive letter from C: to D: (or w/e the letters are on your machine). It doesnt matter the directory, what ever you set it to, it will use that directory. Now when ever anything is put into "my documents" it will be located on the D: drive instead of your SSD. same thing for downloads. Now also make sure to actually store your music in my music, and store your videos in my videos. -Now install the software/games you want on your SSD. -Then install software to your other drive (when installing just direct it to the D: drive instead of the C: drive) If you want, you can mimic the windows file system, and make a program files and program files(x86) folders. Of you can just make a folder called stuff, and install to that if you wanted. up to you how you want things organized. . EDIT: "You have to make a Master Boot Record on that drive before even installing an operating system on it." lol what??? wtf are you talking about? do you even know what the MBR is? Its specific ONLY to windows... and if you install another OS the MBR is replaced (like if you install linux, it will replace the MBR with grub). So if you took a fresh drive and installed linux, it has NOTHING to do with the MBR at all... You cant just magically put a MBR on a drive... the MBR gets added when you install windows... To install windows, you just install it normally (you know put in the disc, and make sure you boot from the disc) but select the SSD as the drive you format and install windows to. Most drives will come unformatted, so to install windows, you need to format the drive with the NTFS file system, but you do that with your windows disc... When you use a more recent windows disc to format a drive, it will ONLY allow you to format with NTFS. So when you click "format" it doesnt even give you a choice, it just does NTFS. Also when using a windows disc, it will set aside 100MB for "system reserved" which is where it will install the MBR, WHEN you install windows. Formatting will NOT add the MBR, ONLY installing windows will. Dude you try to "sound" like you know wtf you are talking about, but you really are making yourself just look stupid...

Easiest way is to do a fresh install of the OS on the ssd. Leave the 1tb disconnected just for the heck of it. Once you have what programs you want on the ssd, then plug the 1tb up. Should just be a storage drive so you can put music, movies, etc, on there. When downloading something, make sure the download path is to the storage and not your ssd. If you currently have your OS on your 1tb, and want to know how to transfer over to the ssd, to be honest I don't think it can be done(easily). I don't know of a way, because just copying and pasting the windows files and such usually results in un-authentication or just down right boot failure. Someone else may be able to confirm or say otherwise, I'm just not sure. Hope one of these answers your question!

Every other suggestion is great except. You have to make a Master Boot Record on that drive before even installing an operating system on it. I guess making it into a System drive. From my experience when you try to install an operating system on a drive not prepared. It will give a stupid message that it's not a system drive. Or install a system drive. Point being the Drive has to have a MRB. Before anything else. I guess I should have said System Format.

Install the ssd, install the OS, then install the other HD.
