What Is A Domain?

Domain alias for Google Apps does not work, what can be the reason?

  • My domain email goes through Google Apps. Recently I acquired another domain name, which I added as an alias for the first domain in Google apps (meaning email can reach me at both [email protected] and [email protected]). I changed MX settings at my new domain host control panel following Google's instructions. Google now displays this new domain as alias in my Apps dashboard. However, when I send email to the new domain, it just disappears - never arrives to the inbox. What can be the reason? Any settings are not right?

  • Answer:

Have you remembered to add the new alias to the existing email within the Google Apps management pages? You have to specifically add it for each email address, as it is also possible to separately host the [email protected] and [email protected] accounts. To merge the two emails, you have to add the alias. I can't think of anything else that could cause this problem, if that's not what's wrong, then you should probably contact google customer service, they'll be able to sort out any other problems within the system.
