What university should I go to?

What university do you go to?

  • I'm looking for a university in Europe or in the United States (i have both citizenship, EU and American) and really, i'm just looking for options right now. So tell me, what university do you go to? :) Where is it? how's the area like? how's the people like? what do you think of the university academic wise? what do you study there? what's the fees and does that count as a lot? do you like it there overall? do you regret anything? tips for how to get in? ideas for other universities you considered? and why didn't you go there after all? Of course you're welcome to tell me as much information as you want, the more the better :) ((10 points will be given.)) Thanks :)

I study at Imperial College in London :) I am so happy I got in and it's an amazing university with a wonderful reputation. It's one of the best universities in the UK for Medicine, it's number 3 in the whole of the UK overall and always in the top universities in the world (always number #6 and #8). Knowing that I study at such a pregistious university does boost your ego and it's really great to know that I am smart enough to have gotten in. I study Medicine and in my opinion medicine is one of the hardest degrees you can study as you have to be a well rounded student - you have to be good in maths, biology, chemistry and English too (being fluent in Latin helps as a lot of medicines are in Latin and it's easy to familiarise yourself & remember them). We have several campus mainly at Charing Cross and South Kensington - my favourite campus is at S.K as it is the French part of London right near fabulous museums& galleries, you are not far from Knightsbridge to do some fabulous shopping and there are loads of amazing bakeries & vintage stores to shop at. I study medicine and my campus and building is far away from the other buildings where they do other courses, so sometimes that can be annoying, but it's not too bad. Imperial only specialises in science and medical subjects, no law or English subjects offered - LSE (London School of Economics) offers those courses and LSE is number #1 in the whole of the UK for Law and of the best universities in the world too. We have lots of events at my university which I love and there are many socities and clubs to join. I am part of the girl's hockey team and I suggest joining a sports team as you compete against other universities, you meet people, go on trips and you keep fit. There's something for everyone here and you will fit in. Us medical students also have our own student bar which sells alcohol at resonable prices & the best time is sports night which is on Wednesday to meet other medics, have a drink, get drunk and let your hair down, it's mainly for binge drinking but we work hard and we deserve a break. If you don't like drinking or partying then that's fine, you can join the Christian union and you don't have to be Christian to join but I guess you fill find it easier to fit in if you are. Obviously because I am in my first year I don't have to work as hard as other people in other years, but at Imperial College you probably work hardest (excluding Oxbridge) we work so hard, we have lots of essays, assignments & exams to pass and it's very hard some people crack under the pressure, so you have to be good to manage your time and be good at organising your time. I share a room on campus which is reccomended if you study medicine so you can get to your hospital placements and you meet people easier & you end up having more of a social life. The seperation isn't so obvious because you share a room with someone who studies a different degree, but once you get into your second year us medics tend to live near the Charing Cross campus as that's where our campus is based. The rooms are amazing and very beautiful, but they are quite expensive (over £1, 000) but the price is worth. We have swimming pools, and a state of the art gym plus many wonderful shops. The staff are lovely, the library is great, and everyone is nice and welcoming, you wont have any problems making friends. Standard offer is AAB, but it varies. Good luck and I hoped I helped. I love it here, I also applied to: Cambridge, UCL, Warwick and Nottingham but I chose ICSM because of it's reputation and we get to go on placements at some of the best renowed hospitals in the world and we have top education
