Whats your definition of a bad invention: one that serves no purpose or one that serves a bad purpose?

If something is invented that serves no purpose, is it not an invention? or is at just a bad invention? if something is invented that sereves a bad purpose (weapons, chemical drugs like LSD, cigarettes, etc.) is it a bad invention or a good once since it atleast serves a purpose? So what is your definition of a bad invention?
