How do you write a good UCAS?

When do I have to apply with the UCAS application if I still have to attend my last year of high school?

  • Hi my name is Alberto and I'm an italian student. I'm trying to apply to UK through UCAS, but I'm really confused on this aspect of the system: do you have to be graduated before you apply? Indeed, I'm doing my application before my last year of high school (2012-2013) to, ideally, start University in UK in 2013. The UCAS requires, also, the grades when I have to give the informations, in the education section, about my high school. Obviously, I still have to start my last years, so I can't know my final grades, even though I can still write the ones for the previous years. Anyway these are not mandatory informations so, in the worst case scenario, I wouldn't give them. Besides, when I have to choose the year in which my last year of high school ends, the option doesn't show 2013, and I'm finished with high school in June 2013. Despite I controlled if I correctly typed everything, including the overall duration of my high school, I didn't find any issue with that, thus maybe I thought about some timing problems. Therefore, my doubt is if you guys, in UK, apply the year after you finish the high school instead of starting university a few months right after the end of your high school. For example if I finish high school in june 2013, should I start in september 2013 or 2014? thank you very much for your answers. =)

  • Answer:

If you want to start in 2013, you'll need to apply between September 2012- January 2013. You were filling out the application to start in 2012.
