Would you please read the Lord's Prayer [Annotated] and C/C if you feel led to do so?
-
I wrote this poem because of this: the other day at bedtime my family, we recited The Lord's Prayer. I struggled with the line "As we forgive those who trespass (sin) against us." I love YAP, but this global forum and type of medium of communication fosters such chaos and disconnect. Is there anyone I or you need to forgive? If you haven't forgiven someone, and you have said The Our Father lately, does it make one a hypocrite? Or, do we live is such a godless society that this does not even come into play anymore? This all gave me a lot of thought and resolve. Too, is that anyone you wish would forgive you? Thanks, Thomas ______________________________________… The Lord's Prayer [Annotated] Our Father (Never say “don’t bother) Who art in Heaven *(Created all in seven) Hallowed be they Name (His son took the blame) They Kingdom Come (You must succumb) Thy will be done (By His only Son) On earth, as it is in Heaven. (Recreated post Armageddon) Give us this day our Daily Bread (Believers lifted up, living and dead) And forgive us our trespasses (Line meant for the masses) As we forgive those (Not just the ones we chose) Who trespass against us (Mirror may help to confess) And lead us not, into temptation (Assuages thoughts of litigation) But deliver us from evil (lest we start acting primeval) Amen (Over and over again) ______________________________________… Addendum: *S1, L4: I included the seventh day of in how many days of creation. Even though God created the Heavens and the Earth in six days, he rested on the seventh. Well, does God actually need rest? No. However, he new man would after the Fall of mankind. He also blessed this day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating he had done. I believe there are other reasons for day seven as well, so I included it. Plus, I need to make the sentence rhyme. Lol ______________________________________… Note: I welcome Atheists into this discourse, as I believe they can be moral, and forgiving, without believing in God. Though, in my opinion morals come from God, I want to set that aside if they wish to opine. There are some Atheist that are more moral than some so called Christians so I welcome you here as well an any of other faiths. ______________________________________…

Answer:
It's been a long time since I've said this prayer (or any). I try to leave religion alone, but I have faith and I try to lead a moral life. Forgiveness is something I struggle with. Particularly when people are not asking or expecting to be forgiven. This has been a timely reminder for me to put it at the forefront of my mind more. To let things go, to connect more. There are definite things that I need to ask for forgiveness for, and there are others, daily, that I must forgive.

I think that forgiveness is a wonderful trait and certainly a theme of this prayer. There is a quote about when you forgive someone you realize you let a prisoner out of a cell and the prisoner was you. The Buddha said something like, "Do not concern yourself with the deeds of others done or undone - but your deeds done and undone." By being the victim you fester thoughts that are unhelpful to yourself and your growth. By forgiving you can let go and improve your mental health and joy.

To forgive, frees me from the burden of resentment, We can come to forgive, yet we seldom forget, nor do we need to associate with the person if they do not change, we just let go and let God. and if we pick up on it again, we let go again. A daily bread.

f(x)=-4e^(x+1)+e^4 DERIVATIVE of -4e^(x+1) = -4e^(x+1) and e^4 is constant so f'(x) = -4e^(x+1) f'(0) = -4e

No, I do not think it makes you a hypocrite, because you are asking for forgiveness In The Measure that you yourself forgive, and scripture tell us not to expect to receive it if we are not willing to give it. ALSO, Jesus tell us in Scripture NOT to say the same prayer over and over. In fact, it was in the same part of the bible when Jesus said "When you pray, pray ALONG THESE LINES" and then gave us what we call the Lord's prayer. HE didn't say "use these words" It was a Formula for prayer. Open with a greeting: Our Father who art in heaven. Then Praise and worship: Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven Then your request: Give us this day, our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, AS we forgive those who trespass against us, Lead us not into temptation , but deliver us from evil Then reaffirm your faith, and close with more praise: For Thine is the Kingdom, with the Power and Glory forever, AMEN. . SO, when you "Recite" the lord's prayer., it really more serves as a reminder to all of us what the terms of our relationship with GOD actually are. But Jesus already told us that his Father is not really interested in recited prayer. Hope this helps. But I really like the phrases you added, and I think The Father would also. And THAT is what Jesus was talking about! Sorry, I know my answer would have been far better suited for this question asked in R&S, but you had already closed it when I saw it.
